We recognize that investing in young people is key to shaping a brighter future for our community. Our youth development projects provide safe spaces, skills, and opportunities that inspire growth, creativity, and leadership. Through education, mentorship, and inclusive initiatives, we empower the youth of Bhambayi to reach their full potential and become active, engaged citizens.
Keep Them Off The Streets
Creating positive outlets for young people is at the heart of our Keep Them Off the Streets campaign. This initiative offers enriching after-school programs such as a Chess Club, a Reading Club, and after-school care to provide safe and structured environments for learning and play. GOLDCO also encourages youth to explore their creativity through involvement in the arts, offering opportunities to engage in music, poetry, and visual arts. By keeping youth engaged in meaningful activities, we help reduce the risks associated with substance abuse, gang involvement, and other harmful behaviours.
Youth Leadership Program
GOLDCO’s Youth Leadership Program nurtures the next generation of community leaders by equipping school children with the skills and confidence to take on leadership roles. Participants learn about governance, public speaking, and decision-making, empowering them to contribute to their schools and communities. Through mentorship and practical training, we foster a sense of responsibility and civic engagement, ensuring that young leaders are prepared to advocate for themselves and others.
Education Support And School Access
Education is a cornerstone of opportunity, but for many young people in Bhambayi, navigating the system can be challenging. GOLDCO actively campaigns to get children back to school and supports out-of-school youth in re-entering the education system. This includes assisting with NSFAS (National Student Financial Aid Scheme) applications for those unfamiliar with the process.
LGBTQI+ Support & Advocacy
Creating inclusive and safe spaces for all youth is essential to GOLDCO’s mission. Our LGBTQI+ initiative offers workshops, counseling services, and family engagement sessions to provide support for LGBTQI+ youth and their loved ones. We create safe spaces for young people to express their identities, seek guidance, and connect with community leaders who can offer mentorship and encouragement. By fostering acceptance and understanding, GOLDCO plays a vital role in promoting equality and inclusion for all young people.
